Yo! So my goal for this year was to try to incorporate my own workouts into my weekly schedule. I'm not going to lie, I had gotten lazy and was ONLY teaching my spin classes.
It's not that I can't do other classes, its just that I would get into a routine and settle in to NOT doing my other workouts. I mentioned in a post before, that I figured out a time to squeeze in at least a 20-30minute HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training Workout.) I do it as SOON as I get home from work, I have been using the Nike Training App, Or I even find time to squeeze in a class after I teach at one of my gyms, The Preserve HTX. I find that this works for me, because It keeps my momentum going. If I sit still too long at home after work it makes me not want to get up and do anything. Also, when I move straight into working out after my class, I find it easier to keep going!
It doesn’t matter if you’re new to Pilates jumpboard classes or have never done a class. Honestly, it could be just what you need, I tried this out this week and loved it!
The jumpboard is an attachment that converts a reformer into a horizontal jumping machine. It fixes to the front of the reformer where the footbar is located. While lying with your back on the carriage you can adjust the spring tension and jump on the board as if it were the floor. The spring tension takes gravity out of the equation, so it feels like you’re jumping on the moon. (Reference ; What Is a Pilates Jumpboard Class? And 5 Reasons to Take One BY KAYTE WALSH NOVEMBER 1, 2018)
In the process of completing the class, I found myself saying, "Who came up with this??" and of course my well educated instructor, Jerry Jones, gave me a quick history lesson! He proceeded to tell me that, Pilates was developed by Joseph Pilates, from Mönchengladbach, Germany. He said that this workout was originally designed for people who were in hospital beds (hence the fact that we are laying down) His father was a gymnast and his mother a naturopath. During the first half of the twentieth century, he developed a system of exercises which were intended to strengthen the human mind and body. (pretty cool huh!)
Whatever you're doing stop by The Preserve, and take a class! We're live in MindBody You never know it may be just the thing your body needs... Keep your Whack A__ Excuses, get out there and change your body, AND your life!!
